LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Sparks struggles continue at Staples Center as Angel McCoughtry made sure her Atlanta Dream picked up an 81-71 win on Tuesday night before the All-Star break.
The Sparks were without their two key players Nneka Ogwumike who missed her third game due to illness, and Alana Beard who did not play due to a groin injury.
Los Angeles attempted to keep pace for three quarter, however due to lacking focus down the stretch, that included terrible defense and a series of turnovers, L.A. could not pull out a win. McCoughtry hit the dagger on a jumper that increased the lead in the final quarter with 2:31 remaining.
Candace Parker finished with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists in the loss. Chelsey Grey added 18 points for Los Angeles.
Angel McCoughtry finished with 19 points, and Brittney Sykes added 13 points for the victory. Atlanta is currently on an eight-game winning streak.
The Sparks face the WNBA Champion Minnesota Lynx on Thursday August 2 at 7:00PM at Staples Center.
