DENVER, CO– Former Oregon Ducks tight end Terrence Ferguson, gained an opportunity to elevate his football career to the NFL level by being selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round, the No. 46 overall pick.
A physical receiver with route-running prowess, you can point to that ability to create after the catch as something that was on display in his impressive college stats, where 72.1% of his catches in 2024 moved the chains or found the end zone.

Ferguson is hopeful he can make a statement in the NFL, especially while catching some passes from Super Bowl champion and veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. “Having a guy like that that’s a Super Bowl champion and one of the greats … I mean, I can’t wait to catch passes from him,” Ferguson said.

He also noted how pumped up his little brother is, having been a lifelong Stafford and Detroit Lions fan. Ferguson will benefit from Stafford’s experience and skill, while hopefully providing the Rams’ offense with his own hefty contributions. While he has a good skill set, he led by his tremendous faith in God that continues to keep him grounded yet focused on and off the field. The leadership qualities that he displayed while inside the locker room at Oregon could also add to the excellent culture that is already entrenched at the Rams.

Rams head coach raved on how excited he is to have an opportunity to coach Ferguson this season.

You just watch the body of work. He reminds me a lot of [Former NFL TE] Chris Cooley. He has some similar body mannerisms to [Kansas City Chiefs TE] Travis Kelce. Chris Cooley was one of the first players that I ever coached in this league. He’s a great football player,” McVay said. “Our guys and Les and his group do an excellent job of being able to measure the intangibles and trying to be able to put that into a collective score. He scored an incredibly high with that. Most importantly, when you trust the vetting and the background that’s done on the human being, what he’s done, what he’s about, his play energy, his tape talks to you in a way that’s reflective of what we feel like looks like a Ram. Ultimately, it’s about getting to work with him.

“Sean’s a big fan,” Rams general manager Les Snead added.

Reflecting on his team at Oregon, Ferguson points to Coach Dan Lanning as the person who taught him key lessons that prepared him for the next step. “Coach Lanning has invested in me so much. I guess only one is hard work works,” said Ferguson, emphasizing the intense practice schedule and rather lofty standards his coach set. Those lessons not only helped him to develop as a player but also helped instill a skillful attitude and a no-shortcuts attitude.

Ferguson also understands the culture in Oregon, where winning and unity were the priorities. “It’s about winning. It’s just the culture that he’s built up there, and I think that travels wherever you go,” he said.

Ferguson added that he believes that will continue to be the case with the Rams.

Entering the NFL, Ferguson’s combination of dynamic play style and the leadership qualities developed throughout his college career makes him an appealing figure in the defensive backfield for the Los Angeles Rams. With hopes of success and furthering his career, Ferguson is ready to take on the challenges and opportunities of the NFL and looks forward to tasting victory.
