Teyana Taylor’s Golden Globe Win: Heartfelt Gratitude and Empowering Speech

HOLLYWOOD, CA – The glamour of the 83rd Golden Globe Awards always promises memorable moments, but this year, it delivered a truly unforgettable one through the luminous presence of Teyana Taylor. Stepping onto the stage, the multi-talented artist, acclaimed for her captivating role in the award-winning film “One Battle After Another” alongside titans like Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti, secured her very first Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture. Her victory was not just a win for her, but a decisive, resonant moment that captivated the entire entertainment world.

Overwhelmed with a visible flood of joy and profound gratitude, Taylor didn’t just give an acceptance speech; she delivered a masterclass in raw emotion and inspiring truth. She began with a disarmingly human confession, “I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I liked it.” Her first thoughts, however, were firmly planted at home. “Oh, my babies! Thank you. My babies are upstairs watching. Y’all better be off them damn phones and watching me right now.

It was a moment of relatable authenticity that endeared her to millions. Taylor’s acceptance speech became a heartfelt litany of thanks.

First, Father God, in the name of Jesus, I thank you, and I praise you for every part of this faith walk, every lesson, every test, and every blessing. Thank you to the Golden Globe voters for seeing me and reminding me that purpose always finds this moment.

She celebrated her family support system, which is imperative to her success.

To my mommy and my daddy, it’s up for y’all anytime. I love y’all so much. Thank you for being here with me tonight. To my tribe, oh my God, my grounding force, my joy, my daily reminder that love is an action, not just a word. And everything I do is rooted in that truth.

Taylor showcased her appreciation for the ‘One Battle After Another’ award-winning director, Paul Thomas Anderson, who believed in her to portray the character on screen.

Paul, Thomas Anderson. Thank you for your vision, your trust, and your brilliance. My gratitude is endless. I love you, we love you, and thank you so much for holding space for me and our entire cast, Leo [Leonardo DiCaprio], Sean [Penn], Benicio [del Toro], Chase [Infiniti], Regina [Hall], everybody, the crew, every single person who has touched this project. None of this is taken lightly, and none of this is taken for granted.

But the true emotional crescendo of Taylor’s speech came with her powerful address to a specific audience, a moment of profound empowerment that transcended the glitz of Hollywood.

And last, but most importantly, to my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight,” she declared. “Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not… That is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space. Thank you so much, everybody!

It was a message that resonated deeply, affirming the inherent worth and power of marginalized voices.

Taylor is one of the dynamic talents who has superseded any expectations placed upon her. Her creativity expands and has no boundaries, whether it’s music, creative directing, fashion design, acting, or cooking; there is nothing she can’t do, and she is looking forward to even bigger opportunities on the big screen.
