WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — On May 1, Netflix is set to unveil its latest series, “The Four Seasons,” an eight-episode journey into the lives of friends bonded over three decades. Featuring an ensemble cast including Tina Fey, Steve Carell, and Colman Domingo, this series promises to blend humor, authenticity, and emotional depth in a way that resonates with audiences worldwide.

Marco Calvani, one of the series’ stars, shared insights into the remarkable synergy that brought this story to life. The entire cast is able to capture those moments and make them so natural and realistic on screen, and the storylines definitely keep the audience intrigued and engaged. Calvani attributes the show’s magic to talent, collaboration, and serendipity.

These are like those unexplainable things. I think it’s a touch of luck, a touch of magic. And, I mean, it’s their talent too,” Calvani told Nitecast Media at Director’s Guild of America exclusive screening.

The atmosphere on set mirrored that of an intimate indie film, filled with camaraderie and absence of ego. “They put together a cast of good actors, I hope you agree, but also of good people who just wanted to have a good time,” Calvani said.

Despite the high stakes of a Netflix production, the relaxed and playful environment fostered genuine connections among the cast.

Even during the breaks, we were playing a lot of games from day one… So that cemented and nurtured a friendship that I think we will take, you know, we will share. I mean, we will be friends forever.

While describing the show’s fabric as a blend of “lighthearted moments and emotional depth,” Calvani emphasized how the characters’ authentic dialogue and profound connections grounded the narrative. This depth is central to the series’ appeal, alongside its ability to portray realistic relationships without the necessity of staged intimacy.

I remember at the beginning, as they should, they asked us if we wanted an intimacy coordinator for a hug… But we were like, no! We didn’t need that.

Calvani explained the dynamic between his character and Domingo’s character throughout the series and how the two brought authenticity to the screen.

A good ingredient of that chemistry was the fact that Coleman and I have been friends for quite some time now, maybe two years, and so we knew each other already, and that helped, of course,” Calvani explained. “But the script, the episode, the show, the characters were very well layered. They revealed themselves in such an organic way, and they’re so deeply, It’s such a beautiful balance between lighthearted moments and emotional depth. I felt that was our anchor. And these two characters deeply love each other so much. Even if they’re going through a crisis on the show.”

The Four Seasons is more than just a TV show; it’s a story of lasting friendships and the delicate process of storytelling that tells life’s moments with grace and truth. As viewers prepare to join them on this fun and tumultuous narrative adventure, the solid connections and infectious happiness of the cast will ensure that it is a series that won’t be quickly forgotten.
