PARK CITY, UT — NBA Champion, Golden State Warriors superstar guard and philanthropist Steph Curry will have his documentary Underrated featured at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. The festival announced the addition of the film to it’s line up on Thursday January 5 that features producer/directors Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther) and Erick Peyton.
Underrated gives viewers a glimpse into Curry’s personal life as he juggles the demands of his professional career to fulfill a promise he made to his mother when he left Davidson early to declare for the draft: he would get his college degree. With inside access from Curry’s days at the 2008 NCAA tournament through the 2021 NBA season. The documentary’s director Peter Nicks successfully showcases the events of various video footage of Curry, as an aspiring athlete and as a professional basketball star, by telling the remarkable story of a young man who rose from an undersized high school and college basketball player to an NBA icon. Curry is apart of the greatest NBA backcourt duos in history with fellow teammate Klay Thompson.
