LOS ANGELES, CA — Sunday night football will never be the same at the L.A. Coliseum, thanks to USC Trojans wide receiver Amon Ra-St. Brown caught four touchdowns in first quarter aiding USC in a 38-13 win over Washington State Cougars.
Coming into the game St. Brown had zero touchdowns on the season, but he more than made up for that in this game. Quarterback Kedon Slovis connected with St. Brown that resulted in a 28-0 lead in the first half.
Trojans looked fresh and in sync despite their previous game against Colorado being cancelled due to COVID, and USC not having enough athletes available.
“We don’t like being away from football for so long, but I think the days away helped us get our legs back underneath us,” St. Brown said. “We had some linemen out, but we had a lot of time to get our throws in. It wasn’t too bad for (the skill-position players).“
Slovis threw for five first-half touchdowns against the Cougars which is the most for a USC quarterback since Cody Kessler. Kessler had five touchdown passes in the first half versus Notre Dame in 2014.
The Cougars had no answer for the Trojans and eventually tucked their tails and went home.
St. Brown four touchdown’s ties single game USC record – the last player to achieve that goal was former USC and current Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods back in 2012. Last time USC scored 28 points in the first quarter was against the Arizona Wildcats in 2019.
Kedon Slovis finished with five touchdown passes in the win over Washington State.
USC gets ready to face their crosstown rival UCLA Bruins at the Rose Bowl on Saturday at 4:30PM on FOX.
