SANTA MONICA, CA — The STARZ Network has officially set the stage for the end of an era. The network confirmed Tuesday that “P-Valley,” the critically acclaimed drama from Pulitzer Prize-winning creator Katori Hall, will kick off its third and final season with a two-episode premiere on Friday, December 4. Both episodes were directed by Hall. The show will continue with new weekly episodes every Friday on the STARZ app and across all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.
Alongside the premiere date, STARZ dropped the first teaser trailer for the final season, pulling fans back into The Pynk — the glittering Mississippi Delta strip club at the heart of the series, run by Uncle Clifford (Nicco Annan) and the found family of dancers, crew and dreamers who orbit her.
The season three announcement came with something extra: a heartfelt open letter from Hall to fans, whom she affectionately calls the “Pynk Posse.” In it, the creator traced the show’s origins back to 2009, when she began writing what would become “P***y Valley” from her kitchen table in Hell’s Kitchen, inspired by conversations with more than 40 dancers during her research.
“There comes a moment when every stripper must hang up her heels,” Hall wrote. “Seventeen years into this dance, that time has come.“
Hall described the decision to end the series on her own terms as a rare privilege in today’s television landscape, calling it a chance to say goodbye “with grace, grit and glitter.” She also thanked and appreciated the STARZ Network directly for taking a chance on the project when no one else would.
“STARZ was the one network who said yes to this story,” she wrote, “but sometimes one yes is all you need.“
Looking back on the show’s run, Hall called “P-Valley” her rumination on the American Dream, describing it as a 27-chapter visual novel chronicling “the majestic and the marginalized.” She credited her writers, cast, and crew for helping bring the story of “the little-strip-club-that-could” to a global audience, and closed her letter with a nod to one of Uncle Clifford’s most quoted lines.
“We never did it for the trophies, we did it for YOU,” Hall wrote. “May this last dance go down in history as our greatest season ever.“
STARZ Leadership Praises a “Brand-Defining” Series
Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming for STARZ, echoed Hall’s sentiment in a statement, framing “P-Valley” as a cornerstone of the network’s identity.
“‘P-Valley’ has been embraced by critics and fans for the same reasons it has been brand-defining for STARZ,” Busby said, adding that the network is “endlessly grateful” to Hall and the show’s cast and crew for building the world of Chucalissa and crafting a final season she described as “emotionally layered, wildly entertaining and unapologetically boundary-pushing.“
What to Expect From the Final Season
Season three arrives with high stakes for Chucalissa. The nine-episode run centers on the fallout from the newly opened Promised Land Casino, which floods the town with money — and, in true “P-Valley” fashion, plenty of chaos along with it. As dreamers, schemers, and hustlers descend on the town chasing a big score, the series’ core characters face their own reckonings: Uncle Clifford sets her sights on expanding her empire, Roulette (Gail Bean) breaks one of The Pynk’s cardinal rules to build her own, and Lil’ Murda (J. Alphonse Nicholson) finds his gang ties closing in just as Keyshawn (Shannon Thornton) fights to break free.
The teaser also teases a new single from Lil’ Murda titled “Homegrown,” featuring FendiDa Rappa, set to arrive on streaming platforms soon.
This season also returns the full cast that has anchored the series since its 2020 debut, including Nicco Annan as Uncle Clifford, Brandee Evans as Mercedes, Shannon Thornton as Keyshawn, J. Alphonse Nicholson as Lil’ Murda, Harriett D. Foy as Mayor Woodbine, Dan J. Johnson as Corbin, Gail Bean as Roulette, Psalms Salazar as Whisper, Morocco Omari as Big L, Dominic DeVore as Duffy, Jordan M. Cox as Derrick, Thomas Q. Jones as Mane, Bertram Williams Jr. as Woddy, Mea Wilkerson as Haiku and Loretta Devine as Ernestine.
Hall serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Jennifer Arnold, Debbie Hayn-Cass, Kemiyondo Coutinho and Ian Olympio serving as co-executive producers. Lionsgate Television produces the series for STARZ.
“P-Valley” isn’t just ending on a creative high note — it’s ending as STARZ’s best-performing current original series. Season two averaged 11.6 million multiplatform viewers across linear, VOD, and streaming, and the show has amassed more than 236 million hours watched since its 2020 premiere. Seasons one and two remain available to stream now on the STARZ app and all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.
With the December premiere date locked in, fans have a matter of weeks to prepare for one last trip to ‘The Pynk’ — and, if Hall’s letter is any indication, a farewell built to match the show’s legacy and impact.
