LOS ANGELES, CA — On a recent exclusive sit-down with reporter and host Taylor Rooks, former WNBA player Liz Cambage revealed some alleged abusive and toxic behavior from some of her former teammates in the locker room while playing with the Las Vegas Aces.

In the 90 minute interview, Cambage revealed how she felt when she was first drafted to the WNBA, her time time with the Tulsa Shock, her short stint with the Los Angeles Sparks, and of course she explained her moments with the Aces. Cambage was traded to the Aces just before the 2019 season, for a package deal that included Moriah Jefferson, Isabelle Harrison, along with first and second rounds picks in the 2020 WNBA Draft. At that time Cambage led the league in scoring (23ppg) and was second in rebounding (9.7rpg) in the 2018 season. Everyone inside the Aces organization appeared to enthusiastic including Cambage, until the seasons progressed and according to her the honeymoon had been over.

I left that Vegas team, and after the first game after that season, I asked for a trade mind you. Had teammates, families and friends bullying me, bullying my friends on twitter. We have all saved… we have all screenshot you try to delete it all we got it, it’s ok,” Cambage told Rooks. Rooks clarified and asked was she being bullied by Aces teammates and Cambage responded, “yes.”

Cambage continued to tell her story, “I left that organization and I keep my mouth closed. I leave this team and I look on to better days, but you still got girls talking about me in training camp with girls who aren’t even on the team. Like why I got rookies coming up to me telling me what so-and-so is saying. Why are my old Aces teammates texting L.A. teammates about me, (and) you girls never said anything to me while I was there but you want to call me toxic. These are the girl I reported for kicking my sh*t in locker rooms… but I’m toxic.”

Although Cambage refused to expose the players by name, she continue to accuse them of selling fake stories about her to various outlets such as ESPN. She also claimed that packages she would receive at the facility as she would open them, players would kick her items thinking it was funny.

Former teammate and current Los Angeles Sparks player Dearica Hamby, who also had her grievances against her former organization maintained her innocence in the matter Cambage claims.

She wasn’t referring to me,” Hamby told me. “All I will say is that my relationship with Liz [Cambage] was great.”

Cambage was criticized for not always being in the best shape or giving her maximum effort at all times while on the floor. She also claimed that she never cursed out anyone or said anything disparaging to anyone in any locker room.

She is absolutely fearless when it comes to speaking her mind, especially when current head coach Becky Hammon was first hired and the terms of her deal were disclosed. Cambage did not hesitate to express why she felt Hammon should not be paid that particular amount via her twitter account, especially as they pay rate for players is relatively low. Her premise is to adjust the CBA where it is more player friendly.

In the rest of the near 90 minute interview, Cambage expressed her interaction with former Aces head coach Bill Laimbeer, her time with her national Olympic team and more.

The Las Vegas Aces have not commented or released any statement regarding the Cambage allegations at this time.
